The entire point of "Flash" was that it was supposed
to be a vector format which downloads fast to do slick
graphics stuff.  Figures someone would push the state
of the art far past sensibility, to a two minute
download and an entire software application.

It's some variety of the Peter Principle used to protect
us from computer generation speed doubling: "applications
expand to waste the space and time available, plus 10%".
