Re: finger surgery and medical insurance

<< perhaps
everyone of us should have a 101 course on medical insurance. in the
end i think its my fault for not finding it out, probably i should
have contacted my provider but again will that work? btw, this is the
first time i ever used my med insurance. it was a really expensive
lesson. has anyone else been through this?

In a fashion. A year ago I was diagnosed with cervical dystonia. One of the
few effective treatments--not cures--are injections of Botox in the neck and
shoulders. It has taken me over a year to get it through Blue Cross's tiny,
tiny brain that this is a) a medical, not cosmetic treatment and b) has been
used regularly for the past decade. This has been with my neurologist and an
advocacy organization also documenting these points with BC. The organization
finally agreed to finance two treatments (each close to $1,000) but I have yet
to see proof it has done so.
