Position:     Peoplesoft Tech Consultant / Apps Tuner
Reference:    SMC01354
Location:     Austin TX
Duration:  3-6 months with extension possible

Experience desired:

Tune applications in PeopleSoft 8.4 and assist in large upgrade project. Hours will 
not be long and/ or daunting.  Normal work week and possibly even a few short days 
depending on the skill level the consultant has. The better the person the easier their
days will be. Working in the Database and Applications Department for a large publicly 
traded Austin based company.

Peoplesoft Upgrade from 7.53 to 8.4

Other skills and Technologies used or helpful:

Strong Oracle Database Experience working with PeopleSoft Versions 7.53 to 8.4
SQL
Crystal Reports
Hyperion Essbase and Enterprise

Experience in application tuning efforts for PeopleSoft module implementation. 
Application tuning performed using SQLab tool, ORACLE TKPROF and SQL Trace facilities. 
Creating indexes to improve execution plans. Working with application developers to
write effective code.

Performing instance tuning using ORACLE BSTAT/ESTAT facility. Experience in working 
closely with UNIX (Sun Solaris preferably) administrators to reduce disk contention.

Providing support by monitoring file system usage, table space usage, object-level 
storage, SGA hit ratios, redo archiving, alert logs and trace files. Additional 
support activities may include resolution of locking issues, performing MEDIA RECOVERY
using archived redo logs, performing object reorganization and maintaining SQLNet 
configuration files.

Excellent communication skills. - Strong problem solving skills. - Independently 
manage time effectively. - Patience, understanding, flexibility and a sense of humor 
are required. - Ability to travel approximately 15 - 25%. Fun office environment.  One
of the best contracts you will get to work on all year!
