Major: Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Overall GPA: 4.00
1997-2001 Mississippi State University, Starkville MS
Major: Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Minor: Mathematics
Overall GPA: 3.80
Successful in completing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
RELATED COURSE WORK
Introduction to Finite Element Analysis; Engineering Design; Finite
Element Analysis (ANSYS FEA); Fatigue and Fracture in Design; Machining
and Forming; Advance Vibrations; Design Optimization; Experimental
Procedures.
WORK EXPERIENCE
January 2002 - present Department of Mechanical Engineering,
Mississippi State University
Work Title:
Design Engineer/Graduate Research Assistant
Work description:
Team member of the vehicle frame research funded by Ford Motor Co.
Finite Element Modeling using SDRC IDEAS 9, Algor FEA, and ANSYS
used to modify and analyze the structure of an automobile for
the purpose of weight reduction and increase stiffness. Main area of
focus was joints in an automobile specifically rocker and T joints.
Involved in design, implementation and documentation phase.
August 2000 - January 2001 Cooper Lighting HID, Vicksburg MS
Work Title:
Mechanical Engineering Co-op (Product testing Lab assistant)
Work Description:
Worked in the Engineering department in the Product Testing Lab and
also with Product Design Engineers. Performed several tasks including:
* Quality assurance tests (Heat, Rain, Salt Spray, Impact, Pull,
Vibration) on lighting fixtures to see if the fixtures met the
requirements for Cooper and UL (Underwriters Laboratory) standards.
* Using the results from the Laboratory tests, I helped the Engineers
in designing standard lighting fixtures (using Auto-Cad, and SDRC:
IDEAS Drafting).
* Design work included drawing preliminary sketches of fixtures in
Auto-cad and IDEAS SDRC.
Spring 1998 - 2001 (part-time) Diagnostic Instrumentation Analysis
Laboratory (DIAL), Starkville, MS
Work Title:
Research Lab Assistance
Work Description:
Data Analysis using lasers and optics for the purpose of finding
the composition of various glass samples by using specially
made computer programs, MS-Excel, and Quattro pro. Mechanical
Engineering related work: Using Auto-cad, I created preliminary
drawings for "safety setups" of several laser experiments.
Using the Lathe and Drill machines, I created the "safety setups."
COMPUTER SKILLS
Design software:
IDEAS SDRC (Drafting Software), ALGOR (FEA), ANSYS (FEA), Auto-Cad
Other Software:
Math-Cad, Lab View virtual instrumentation software, MATLAB, MS-Word,
PowerPoint, Corel Word Perfect, MS Excel, and Quattro pro.
Programming Languages:
Unix Shell Script, Java, C, Pascal and Basic.
Operating Systems:
MS-DOS, Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME, XP, NT and Windows 3.XX, Linux and
