Model railroaders sometimes make scale models of such heavy industries to serve
as "customers" of their model railroad. Most advanced modelers want to simulate
the business end of railroading (picking up and delivering various goods) rather than
run toy trains around endless loops of track. A coal burning power plant makes a
good customer for a railroad hauling coal in hopper cars. Of course you need a
mine at the other end of the layout.
