Most of the T&D here dates back to the 50s, and hasnt been upgraded. And as bad as I thought LILCO was, LIPA is letting the system fall into shambles. Tree limbs on sagging 3 phase primaries are everywhere. Poles are tilting. And if thats how they treat primary wires I'd hate to see how they do with secondaries! I have taken some photos linked below Leaning pole:http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid79/p2f58c764170e8eb6a432437d1036ca9d/fb0d802d.jpg 3 phase in a tree http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid91/p20563640f2010eb5090ac5a5c19c99e2/fa6e41f1.jpg Tree branch sagging on part of a 3 phase http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid91/p283436486a70d7091e134d28c05acb10/fa6e41ff.jpg More unrepaired damage to a 3 phase line http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid89/p08382d92e0f4ff7a69f9ffc593c128bb/fa83f698.jpg The last one is kind of fuzzy so I'll just say the wires to the right of the crossarm are both off their insulators and sagging. LIPA has been contacted several times but has not fixed the problem. None of the above problems have been fixed yet. No wonder today there was a closure on 25A in Great Neck because a pole was just about to fall on the road.
