When I drive north up the NJ Turnpike, I notice a very long stretch of what appears to be very high voltage lines. Does anyone know the answer to the following: How much voltage are these lines carrying? It looks as if there are between 20-30 ceramic insulators holding these wires. What power station is responsible for sending power down these lines, and is the power going upstate or towards southern NJ? (Source -- Destination?) Also, does Manhattan get served by these lines? I am assuming not, since NJ was lit up while much of New York went dark during the last large blackout. Where does Manhattan get its power? Thanks!
