There are plenty of cost of living comparison calculators on the web.



Given a national average index of 100 for housing, here is how these
cities compare (and Austin is probably one of the most expensive Texas
cities - cause it's so cool and eveyone wants to live there!)



Sacramento: 111.0

Austin: 93.3

Portland: 125.4

Las Vegas: 96.3

Boston: 160.9

Reno: 139.9



So there you have it. For comparison San Antonio is 83. Rarely see a
homeless person here.
