I've had a nagging intermittent back problem for a few years now which really wasn't that bad but has gotten many times worse with the past episode. I was on vacation and was working out in a GYM which had a preacher curl bench which was NOT adjustable. The seat was not adjustable nor was part of the piece of equipment where you rest your arms during the exercise and it was a damn long reach for the curl bar. Anyway, all I did was *reach* for the curl bar to start my set and ......WOW.......awesome pain.It felt like the base of my spine was being ripped out. I went to a back specialist, he took an X-Ray of my spine and the spine looked good. He gave me some exercises to do to stretch the lower back muscles. I have been doing these exercises for 3 weeks and my back would ONLY hurt a little in the morning for about 1/2 hour until it loosened up. The back was feeling much much better though in general. I decided to go to the gym today and I was doing vertical leg presses and re-injured it almost as bad as when it first happened a month ago. I want to ask a question, if I return to the back specialist and he sends me for an MRI and they find herniated discs ( which IMO is a good chance this is the problem) , what the hell can be done anyway?. What are the options?. Also, yeah I know, it was dumb of me to go back to the gym before I was 100%. Thanks in advance .
