Re: Fastest CPU on Motherboard with 2 EISA slots?

Hi,

I have 2 special use PC cards that use EISA slots.
They are on an ASUS 2PB motherboard which hosts only
Pentium II Single Edge Contact (SEC) CPU.

To spped it up, I thought about two ways:

1) Get a 'new' computer with EISA slots that can hold the
fastest CPU. I want to know which motherboard with EISA
slots that can host a fast CPU, what CPU.

2) Use the same motherboard and put a 'new' CPU. I checked
ASUS webpage, it seems it can host a 1.0GHz Pentium III.

It may go higher, depending on revision level. Details here:

At one time, I noticed that in the market, there was a slot 'converter'
to put a fast P-III on a PCB and plug into the SEC slot. I forgot the
name. What's the fastest CPU can this kind of convert hold?

Converters are available to support all Intel socket 370 processors on Slot-1 motherboards, the fastest being the 1.4Ghz PIII-S - but you need to review the FAQ above to determine compatibility with your board revision.

Thank you for tips.
