Fred, Availability of an ISA bus slot is just one of several things to consider here. Let's assume you have a P4 (or Athlon) board with ISA slot. Now you install the old but important ISA sound card. Which operating system will you be running? For all practical purposes, Windows XPee drops support for ISA slots. Windows 2,000,000 is a little better. Windows ME SUCKS big time. Windows 98 is pretty good for what it is, a shaky house of cards on top of an even more shaky 1981-vintage DOS. You would also have to unearth sound card software drivers for whatever operating system you intend to use. If you intend to use the new motherboard and old sound card with the operating system you presently are running, then you need drivers for the motherboard chipsets and for whatever video card (or integrated video) you will be using. All of the above points to another question: Is it possible to find the PCI equivalent (or near equivalent) of the old but important ISA sound card ??? As long as you are considering a jump to a faster motherboard, it might make sense to modernize other parts of the hardware...
