Susan, Yes. I had bad pain in my knees mostly when going down the stairs. I went for physiotherapy for a while and continue doing, at home, the exercise given to me. I have no pain anymore. I would try it and see. It may have the same effect on you. It was not fun to go true a painful adventure each time I went down. I have a 3 stories house, so it was not fun at all. Françoise.
