We have hardwood floors, but had carpets in our last house. I would look in the yellow pages. My wife, however, who is the "decision maker" in regards to household stuff like that, keeps up with the junk mail. The last few times we had carpet cleaner people, I believe she selected people based on coupons via mailers. My advice is that if $150/month is too much, try printing flyers and pay the neighborhood kids to distribute them door-to-door (if that is legal in your area). Otherwise, try and get a coupon into one of those co-op type mailing packages. You have to put out coupons once a month for three months (or more) to see what the effect will be on your business. However, if you are able to pass out flyers door-to-door, I believe that effective advertising just got affordable for you. If you do this, I suggest you ask people in this group for feedback on the flyer before going to print. (This group does not accept email with attachments, so post your flyer somewhere on the Internet and just send the link to this group.) Another good place to ask this question, re the yellow pages and the flyer, is the newsgroup misc.business.marketing.moderated. Good Luck!! Mike Turco
