I've been to the Hall of Flame twice now; living in the Phoenix
metro area like I do, it's not that big a trip, but still.
There is an excellent display of old apparatus, both domestic and
international. It looks like they keep having to add to the place, and the
interior walls are kind of funny as a result, but the effect is still very
good. It's tasteful, well-done, and covers almost every imaginable aspect
of firefighting; the wildland firefighting exhibit was recently completed.
It is conveniently located near the airport, along with the
Phoenix Zoo (a private zoo, and a pretty good one at that) and the Desert
Botanical Garden, with (unsurprisingly, perhaps) a world-class collection
of succulents and cacti.
The e-mail address in the header doesn't work. Sorry.
