Y'all are hilarious! Gloves issue: in all likelihood, we were out of gloves, as we are out of at least one major supply at any given time. As I write this, we are out of nasal canullas, terbutaline and normal saline. Cardioversion issue: Versed? Ha ha ha! We were lucky to have defibrillator pads! And just try getting orders for morphine from med control around here. That's another thing - we have to get orders for *everything* - we have protocols, but no standing orders for anything invasive or advanced. But we do have some of the best paramedics in the country. We get paramedics from the rest of the country who come work for us and they stand around in disbelief at how few ambulances, supplies, EMT's, etc. we have to work with. Th one thing we aren't short of is call volume and inventiveness. That's the reason the Discovery channel loves New Orleans' EMS! We have been doing so much for so long with so little, we could likely do anything with nothing at all.
