There are certain concepts which I am well aware that I already teach to a much greater degree than the actual classroom teachers do, even in limited times. However, when budgets get tight, music is one of the first things to go. My school should really have at least 1 1/2, if not two full-time music specialists, based on the number of classes we have in the school. However, we have only me, which means each general ed class gets 45 minutes instead of 60, band gets 2 hours a week instead of 60 minutes a day, and guitar and choir get 45 minutes a week instead of 90. > > Alberto. >
