Did the miscreants do any jail time? I don't know if they were ever caught. Detectives went through the cab with UV and possibly lasers looking for fingerprints before they released the car to me (and kept their distance emotionally, in case I had actually staged the theft and was part of the group who did the crime!). The cab was filled inside with dozens of expended cartridge cases, both 9 mm and .22 Long Rifle. Even after a thorough cleaning, for months and years later I'd occasionally encounter another "shell" that had come loose and was rattling somewhere inside. What I did do (this refers to the top portion of the reply above that I retained) was remove the special stickers I had on my car's rear window, for there were many times that I drove through the neighborhood where the murders happened between home and work (when I wasn't riding my bicycle instead), and I did not want to encounter members of the rival gang who might be seeking their revenge.
