Mutant mice being bred in Albany

RENSSELAER -- A few miles from the state Capitol, researchers and lab 
technicians are running mice through mazes, testing their DNA, 
examining their cells for genetic anomalies and breeding genetically 
engineered rodents for use in experiments all across the country... 

Mice are vital in medical research because the genes of mice and humans 
are 97 percent the same. "The mouse is the premier pre-clinical model 
for human disease," said Paulette McCormick, director of the Center

mice, mice with chronic arthritis, mice with weak immune systems,
