Studying for MCAT verbal reading

Well, I am taking a Kaplan MCAT review course.
I haven't been in school for more than 10 years.
I pretty much kept in touch with my science
knowledge because of all the science I read
throughout the years.

I got my diagnostic back with a score that is
discouraging.

In particular is my verbal score. I got 100% on
science reading passage. 85% on the social
reading passage. A whopping 0% on the humanities
reading passage!!!

How do I increase my accuracy on the humanities
reading passage? I got the Kaplan workbooks to
go through, but I'm afraid, that that won't be
enough to raise my grade to over 75% on the
humanities. (This week, we do verbal reading
work.)

What else can I do? Where can I get extra
practice? Is it possible to review from
other exams where reading comprehension may be
much harder? For example, perhaps GRE English
exam has a much tougher reading comprehension
passages.

The idea being, if I can get a decent score
on passages/questions that are much more difficult
than MCAT passages, then MCAT passages would
be a breeze.

Any good suggestions/ideas/books?

thanks.

(Aside, how is it possible to have such an extreme
in grades for the reading passages? I have a guess.
All I ever read is science even in my spare time.
I never read fiction, or essays on fiction. In fact,
I must spend close to $200 on science periodicals
alone per month. I'm not including the amount I spend
on books. I read so much science, that the non-humanity
passages felt like 'autopilot'; something I've already
read in the past at some time.

Still, this explains the high score on the non-humanities,
but not the super low score on the humanities.)
