As a home-schooler, I'd expect a high degree of literacy from you: you must have found a place where I suggest that Dalene (1) worships her Christmas tree, and (2) sings TO THE TREE. Ready? Here goes: >>>> ...it would seem appropriate to throw the ball back in your >>>> court: are you really comfortable dancing around the >>>> ammonia-fountain, singing ammonia carols? Let's see. We have (1) dancing around [an object], and (2) singing [some sort of] carols. I'm disappointed! From every angle, it's clear that this says neither of the things you seem to imagine: First and most importantly, I asked a question which (1) was hypothetical, and (2) made no assumption as to whether Dalene does or doesn't do the hypothetical things in question. Similarly, if I asked you, "Would you be comfortable putting your mother in a nursing home?" I would not be assuming that your mother is in a home, or that you would put her there, or indeed whether you even have a mother. From the question, nothing can be inferred about your mother or about what I think about her. Second, "dancing around" something does not imply worship. Indeed, the image I had in mind was a maypole; perhaps the maypole dance *was* an act of worship in the past, but today lots of people dance around maypoles with no intent to worship it. It's "JUST A TRADITION", rather the way xmas trees are "just a tradition" today. Third, nobody "dances around" xmas trees, so the reference to "dancing around the ammonia fountain" can't possibly be applied _directly_ to Christmas trees. In other words, it would be absurd to suppose, say, that I thought Dalene "danced around" a Christmas tree--let alone "worshipped" it! Fourth, "ammonia carols" map directly to "christmas carols". It was a reference to xmas carols, and made no mention of singing TO THE TREE, nor was that even contemplated. (Whether Dalene ever sings "O Christmas Tree" or not, I haven't the foggiest.) So I'm afraid you have not found the elusive quote where I accused Dalene of worshipping, or even singing to, xmas trees. Regards, Len.
