Incorrect: you miss the point. The shape of the idol is not mentioned,
because it's irrelevant. If the heathen brought their idol inside
whole, rather than carved, then Jeremiah's condemnation is equally
applicable.
The point of the chapter is not whether a given silver-and-gold-bedecked
tree is of the form Jeremiah imagined. The point of the chapter is the
exhortation, repeated twice: "Learn not the ways of the heathen."
