Paid by the advertisers themselves so that they look good. Some "reviewers" flood a review site ( like epinions.com ) just to offset the reviews . Some play it as jokes. Advertisers dont like seeing their products get bashed and if a site/magazine is on one of their lists that they buy time with, that site/magazine could lose that income generated by hosting their ads.
