When we put a pool in our sloping backyard the dozer operator leveled the
pool area, cut back the bank
and used the fill to make a large flat area away from the pool for a
basketball court, garden, etc. Without that,
our yard wouldn't have been  much use for children's recreation although
they did like the sled riding before it was
graded. Our pool installer did this grading work at no extra charge but I
wouldn't count on anyone else doing it that way.
