They compound the sin by not even hinting other products are available. You'd think a publication interested in supporting the consumer would provide better information. As for air purifiers, and on the subject of Honeywell, I wonder if Honeywell's energy-recovery ventilator would be a solution for some people? Fresh air instead of just filtering it, and no ozone (assuming good outdoor air quality). Expensive, but maybe a good option for people living with well-sealed homes/indoor air quality problems. It would work for the whole house and fan noise wouldn't be a problem (located in the attic).
