I didn't realize there was a "right side up". Outlets often have the ground at the top so that if an appliance pulls away from the wall only the ground is exposed. I have seen outlets mounted both ways in homes and in commercial installations. Which way is "right side up"?
Until recently outlets were installed with the blades on the top and the ground on the bottom - now they are being installed "upside down" because of the potential for something falling across the blades and shorting the circuit. (Unless specifically marked the up or down sides of an outlet could be determined by the orientation of any writing on the outlet, while most outlets were thought to be correctly installed during the time since the grounded outlet became standard, now only the newest ones are right side up.
