Most (all?) in-the-room air filters are a waste of money, and ozone (as it seems you already know) can cause more problems than it solves. Why do you feel you need an air filter? Does the house seem dusty, or are there airborne contaminants? Other solutions to problems such as these are sealing the house at the point of infiltration, installing a central vac or an active ventilation system, replacing carpet, quit smoking, etc...
