Dirt Devil Hard to Push

Just purchased a Dirt Devil upright (12 amp) model 085540.  It is
extremely hard to push due to the automatic carpet height adjustment
not being effective.  Tried calling service center, but no answer
after 45 mins on hold.   I'm taking it back for a refund.
