Running 3 feet of pipe and installing a shut-off valve shouldn't be over US$100, IMHO. The materials aren't costly and there isn't more than an hour's labor involved. I recently had two tees and two circuits (with shut-offs) added to the outside of my home in Washington State, total run of about 30 feet, for $300. A fireplace shop did the work, off season. Have you considered whether a permit is required, and the cost of that? Perhaps the estimate you received includes the permit. John Davies Spokane WA USA
