Fireplace Blowers

I live in the southwest in a pretty energy efficient home.  Most of the
heating is passive solar with a couple of small gas registers.  There is
also a kiva fireplace in the corner.  It's not a true Rumford design so it's
not highly efficient.  I'm thinking of installing a fireplace blower to send
more of the heat out into the room and less up the chimney.  I'd like to
know if anyone has an opinion on blowers, i.e., are they worth the price,
any brands, features to look for etc...
