Kids shouldn't be playing in the streets they should be inside playing mind challenging challenging computer games and doing home work. Obesity isn't really caused by inactivity is it? Look what playing in the street did to their grandparents. Think of how much better the world would be today if our grandparents hadn't been allowed to play in the streets and interact with each other. Think what the world would be like today if our grandparents like the kids of today spend most of their time on a computers playing violent games or doing home work. They wouldn't have had to learn how to deal with the neibor who's window they broke, or heaven forbid play road hockey/baseball or basket ball on side streets while the od man out watched for vehicular traffic or cops. Childhood is for learning and testing yourself and I don't mean school or adult controlled team sports, I mean free wheeling devil may care fun that sometimes leads to trouble but usually nothing earth shattering. Our grandparents learned street smarts on the street and I don't mean how to rob, pillage or rape I mean the ability to interact with other individaul without parental guidance. The children who grow up in these regulated communities are really missing the fun and experiences our grandparents take so much pride in remembering and passing on as stories for their grandchildren. No wonder their are so many upper middle class street gangs in North America the kids are bored and their parents have lots of cash for good lawyers to get them out of court with a slap on the wrist.
