More important than getting on the mortgage is getting on title. You will have to figure out how title is going to be held (eg. joint tenants, tenants in common, etc.). You will then have to contact the mortgage lender and get their permission to change the title. If you changed title without their permission they could call the loan all due and payable. In most cases the lender will not object to a change in title or vesting especially if it adds to the security of the loan. A good place to go for help in this is an Escrow company.
