I've never tried a prepaid phone or phone service.

However, I have been with Verizon since they were AirTouch (about 5 years)..

Each year when my contract is up, I contact them by phone and offer to renew
with them if I can get 'the best' plan, for no more than a year and a new
full feature phone.. (I usually tell them that the old phone isn't
performing properly).

Never fails.. I paid $1 for my first cell phone with AirTouch and haven't
had to pay since..

I always give my old phone to an elderly relative or friend..
