Start with burned out fluorescent tubes. Instructions for making a gadget for breaking off the ends cleanly using a heated wire. Went on about how to clean out the interior coating. Not a word about the possible toxic properties of that coating or proper disposal. This stuff was to eventually be mounted on a reflective bed rigged up to a mechanical gizmo that kept it aimed toward the sun. That component used freon to move the bed. But it was DIY and it was solar, so it was a good thing.
