But I believe the OP's point was probably what I gathered from the article, which was that the author seemed to have a typical yuppie mndset that a good parent simply *must* buy all the latest expensive clothes, toys and gadgets, so therefore would practically have to be a millionaire to afford a child in this day and age, especially since everyone knows it's "impossible" for a family to live on one salary, so expensive child care is factored in as well. Amy's "Tightwad Gazette" article quite nicely debunked that theory, showing how many things parents think are necessary are either available much cheaper, have less expensive alternatives, or in some cases, are totally unnecsessary.
