Yep, that started in the late '80s, and it has been pretty much
downhill since.

You might be interested in Backwoods Home Magazine.  It has a lot of
the old MEN flavor.  I have been a subscriber for several years.  I
met Dave Duffy once and he seemed like a really nice, down-to-earth
fellow.
