So you shop at Wal-Mart. What are some of the products you buy? , eg
ivory hand soap, etc. How much is it at Wal-Mart as opposed to the
other store? Are you saving a few cents or does it cost half as much or
what? No one has explained to me why when they wake up in the morning,
they are convinced that they cannot shop anywhere but Wal-Mart.
How great is the Wal-Mart return policy? That is the number one reason
I shop at Costco. While I have only returned probably 2 or 3 items over
the last 6 years, I have the confidence that returns can be made in
reasonable circumstances. Most store have a 14 day very restrictive
return policy with small writing on the saleslip that is less than
clear. Never been a reason to shop at such stores except in rare
circumstances. Don't deserve my business or yours!

What I meant is that having walked through my first Wal-Mart 3 months
ago - had to travel by our local subway system for about an hour to get
to a Wal-Mart - the shelves were in a mess, product everywhere. There
was nothing in the store that was a must have, or that appeared any
different or cheaper plus or minus a few cents that I couldn't get
elsewhere.

Wal-Mart is opening a store nearby my home once it gets city approval
but like saveway, I don't anticipate shopping there except for very
special items if I find such.

I shop at Costco because I like the company, its policies, the people
that work there and the general experience of shopping there.
When I asked the people that work there that I have come to know in a
customer/employee relationship over the many years, the employees say
that Costco is a nice company to work for.

While I have nothing against Wal-Mart, I would not shop there unless it
had a product that I couldn't get anywhere else. This is because of the
global news of messing with employees re overtime, and a host of other
issues.

In my city it is very difficult to buy a basketball hoop to mount on a
wall and Wal-Mart sells them. All other stores seem to sell the very
expensive stand-alone hoop unit, so in that context, it would be
appropriate for me to shop at Wal-Mart.

I have a safeway almost across the street from where I live but I travel
a mile by bicycle to shop at Costco because 10 years ago (and I shopped
at Safeway for 20 years almost exclusively and I also used to see the
local rich and famous shop there, too) not any more - I (am poor) and
the local rich and famous shop at Costco. Safeway employees I talked to
in the same employee/customer relationship indicated they were not
enchanted with their employer. Funny enough I ran into one of the
employees of safeway and they said how come you don't shop at the store
anymore. I said I cannot support a company that is less than enchanting
to its employees. They said but if you don't shop there, the store will
close and I will be out of work. Not an easy situation, is it?
