Re: Space heaters v/s whole house



You should consider balancing the heat output for the two floors.  As
we all know, hot air rises, so the second floor will naturally be
warmer than the first.  You might close (maybe not entirely) the
registers on the second floor, thus forcing more warm air out on the
first.  This will be a trial and error exercise, so start by closing
them a little, then more, then more... until you get the balance you
wish.  (You'll have to rebalance in the summer, for AC.)  You might
also wish to contact a local HVAC person who can give you local
advice.

Your gas furnace is probably more efficient than running several space
heaters.
