Sometimes I do shower at school and when I do I make sure I enjoy a long, long relaxing shower. One advantage is you don't run out of hot water like you do at home. I don't save water when I shower. I tested it and found the shower water filled up the tub and sometimes more than a regular bath. I save on gas by turning the water heater and off just before a shower. It's a waste to have hot water 24/7 just to have a warm shower once a day. It also forces me to take shorter showers as the hot water will run out if I didn't turn off the gas before showering. You do give up the option of having a hot shower on demand. Don't know if the heating and cooling puts stress on the water heater and shorten its life.
