Suggesting Hotwire for risk-taking frugalists

I love this service. Latest coup is a Key West reservation that
turned out to be for the Sheraton Suite Hotel at $76/nite + taxes -
about what Econolodge would have cost and favorably comparable to
their own site's published rates of $166/nite. Previously, I booked a
normally $150/nite Doubletree Suites in Scottsdale for $60/nite and
got the very same NY La guardia Hertz 3-day reservation saving about
$80 that i originally made and then cancelled through Hertz directly.

Two downsides are there are no cancellations which means if you're
booking a resort, don't have the extended weather forecast to rely on
and it's raining buckets, you're out of luck. Also, you have no
knowledge of the actual hotel or car rental until you use your cc to
purchase it. However, they do deal with the choice properties and
services and their 1-4 star ratings with accompanying description of
the facilities is generalized but accurate - so if looking for a 3
star hotel, you will generally end up with one, if not a 4 stars.
Just a word to the wise.
