Mark, from what I was reading, while researching my pellet stove plans, pellet stoves and corn stove are the same.. I can't find the link to the info right now.. I think it was on Mother Earths site.. Maybe what I'm reading is that the pellet stove burns corn just the same as the pellets they are intended.. They say that the pellet stove is not advertise as a corn stove because the government really doesn't want everyone to switch to corn since that might impact the 'food chain', while pellets are made from wood byproducts/waste. They also indicate that corn is equal to or slightly better cost wise.. Pellet stoves all require a exhaust vent (they don't call it a chimney because it just doesn't get that hot). The simplest installation is next to an outside wall and a exhaust vent goes directly out the wall.. Modern, approved installations require a combustion air intake vent as well (strongly recomended to avoid drafts through windows and doors.). If I live in corn country, I would try burning it myself.. Steve
