Olympus and Nikon makes really good cameras.

You're basically good to go with the purchase. 

The only thing you will likely want/need to buy that is extra is more
storage for your pictures. You will be able to take a few high-quality
pictures with your purchase, but if you want to take more, you will need
to spend more.

Consumer Reports has some good information.

Most computer magazines do regular reviews on digital cameras as well
and their websites may contain those reviews.


Just something to look for...I don't consider a 3x optical zoom to be
remotely good enough. My next digitial camera will have at least a 10x
optical zoom. 

I never use the digital zoom provided by a camera.
