Re: showering for efficiency

We have (had) (deregulation in the works) among the lowest gas rates in
the world. I bugged the gas company to tell me (calculate the cost of
a shower for 15 minutes.) Fifty cents was the answer. Cheaper, of
course, if you turn off the shower for soaping or only shower with a
warm water mixture.

After travelling Europe and staying in cheap D and E class hostels with
little or no hot water in my youth, a day doesn't go by when I remember
those modest accommodations and appreciate the luxury of a hot shower,
one of life's little pleasures. Stress is a great killer. Frugality

Sounds like you have linked hot-showers to 'a good life' in your mind. You link the uncertainties of your youth, with cold water.

At least you didn't link small cars to your youth, and SUVs to your mature fulfilled life.

THAT's the benefit of frugal living--you tie your satisfaction to the simple things inlife, and not the big ones (big house, big car, big country, big bombs, big news, etc.)
