I haven't seen rain like this since I lived on the NW peninsula in Washington state, and that was roughly 26 years ago. > We arent expecting any freeze here tonite. I saw a potential frost warning for the next two nights here. A frost earlier in the week put the banana trees to sleep until spring. I'd no idea that this would cause the smell of bananas to permeate the air as it did. > >> Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. > Yep. Ate too much, laughed too much, talked too much..... Ditto. And, I am a now a huge fan of deep fried Cajun turkey! Fun geographical differences for me yesterday: I was the only one who brought dressing. I put oysters and mushrooms in it. While everyone knew what dressing was, they normally don't serve it and approached it somewhat cautiously. I had a lot left over to bring home. My husband and I love it. Someone was talking about how much they like bald peanuts. Now, I must have had a real stupified look on my face even more so than usual, because someone finally took pity on me and translated it to me. "He meant boiled peanuts". Then there's: Nephew: Do you want a coke? Me: Yes, please Nephew: What kind do you want? Me: A coke, please. Nephew: I know, but which KIND do you want? Me: A coke. Nephew: (stops at this point and looks at me funny and gets a bit quiet.) Niece: He wants to know which kind of soda you want. Me: (Funny look on my face), Oh, okay. One of those would be fine, (pointing to the Coca Cola). And then there's "going to make groceries". All in all, a very fun day. Terri
