I don't know of any statistics, but any stats older than, say, two years would be suspect. The flood of unsolicited e-mail has to have negatively effect productivity. If I am out for a couple of days, I can have 200+ e-mails, most of them SPAM, and that is after SPAM filtering software. Fortunately I don't use Outlook, but the lost time to e-mail viruses that pass thru Microsoft's product ought to be factored in too. I'd be interested in seeing any research or statistics. I'm just not sure I'd share them with clients.
