Contract telecommute programming from overseas

My wife has received a very nice job offer.  Only hitch is that it is
in Thailand.  I currently have a full-time programming job that is all
on-site work.  At first I balked about leaving my position for
Thailand, but the thought of doing contract programming via
telecommuting occurred to me.  Anyone ever heard of doing this from
abroad?  If so, what would I have to do to get going or set up
contacts or whatever is necessary?
