ABSTRACT: 5 Ways to Ruin a Software Development Project

We learn most from our mistakes, and I've had my share of them. Even when
all the technical capabilities are in place, software development projects
can be undermined by a variety of obstacles created and missteps made by
management and their consultants. Here are five principles you can use to
prevent your next project from completing:

* Wait 'til you see where I put it! Geographical obstacles.
* The manager is WHO? Managers and incompetence.
* Who are the bozos next door? Teams and competition.
* Don't fire anyone! Maintaining headcount at all costs.
* Don't change the toolset! New methods as subversive action.

Please join us for this timely presentation. This is likely to be well
attended so reserve a space now, and let your friends know about this event.
