Hampson, Blasi, Doufexis & Lively meet Joseph Marx

Dear friends of the melodious sound,

After a long absence, I'd like to let you know about the news on Joseph Marx (1882-1964) that I have for you.

Thomas Hampson (who is sometimes called America's leading baritone) has included a number of Marx's songs to his repertoire and will perform them frequently in future.

Also, Angela Maria Blasi (soprano) and Stella Doufexis (mezzo-soprano) recorded the second disc of the ASV series "Complete Orchestral Music of Joseph Marx". This CD will be released in Spring and it will include premiere recordings of Marx's gorgeous Orchestral Songs. Once again, I attented the recording sessions (as I did with the Volume 1 disc, the "Nature Trilogy" for large orchestra about which you can find a lot of reviews at the "Discography" section of my website), and I cannot tell you how wonderful Mrs. Blasi and Mrs. Doufexis sang those late-romantic and impressionistic masterworks!

In January, the American-born pianist David Lively (who frequently plays large-scale concertos such as the Furtwangler and the Busoni) will record the two piano concerti of Marx, the "Romantic Piano Concerto" that was Jorge Bolet's favorite concerto, and the legendary "Castelli Romani" that was premiered and then performed for decades by Walter Gieseking.

I suggest that you visit my website

I made a lot of updates and additions to my website, amongst others, a new section called "In the footsteps of Joseph Marx: Travelogue of a memorable journey" for which I shot 56 photos including all those places where Marx has lived and composed his music! I had the chance to be in the very room where he has written almost all of his works, including the Autumn Symphony (that will be recorded in 2005), and there I also met a lady who has been Marx's house-maid from 1938 to 1943!

Hopefully you will enjoy the website!

All best wishes,
Berkant
