Most of the correspondence was between Cosima and Gobineau.  There are
only two short letters from Wagner to Gobineau, perhaps in part because he
was less comfortable writing in French, the first language both of
Gobineau (who was fluent in German) and of Cosima.  As far as I can
recall, there is no discussion of racial theories in the letters from
Wagner.  In the second and last of those letters he is even more
conciliatory, almost pleading with Gobineau to visit again, and so he
avoids raising any contentious issues.
