There are only two short letters from Wagner to Gobineau, perhaps in part because he was less comfortable writing in French, the first language both of Gobineau (who was fluent in German) and of Cosima. As far as I can recall, there is no discussion of racial theories in the letters from Wagner. In the second and last of those letters he is even more conciliatory, almost pleading with Gobineau to visit again, and so he avoids raising any contentious issues. -- Derrick Everett (deverett at c2i.net) ==== Writing from 59°54'N 10°36'E ==== http://home.c2i.net/monsalvat/index.htm
