New from MIO Records!

NEW FROM MIO RECORDS www.miorecords.com

Begnagrad: same - Begnagrad was a group from the former Yugoslavia that
made their only album in 1983. Considered one of the best albums to come
out of eastern Europe, this reissue includes several live bonus tracks
and a 20+ minute MPEG video of the group in concert in the early '80s
that's never been seen; the record has also been meticulously remastered
and sounds PHENOMENAL. RIO-influences, Balkan folk, and electric rock
combine with humor & sadness in wild compositions that are
completely unique. My completely unbiased reissue of the year. [MIO 006]

Mr. Toad: Trench Art - Mr. Toad are a new, classically-trained group
from Israel. "Trench Art", their debut album, is a mellow progressive
epic that takes listeners to early King Crimson, with hints of Nick
Drake, Celeste, Gryphon, After Crying, and Fairport Convention. The
instrumentation is acoustic and electric guitars, flute, piano,
mandolin, bass and vocals, but there are a lot of musical guests,
including clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, recorder, cello, violin and drums.
[MIO 028]

Birgé Gorgé Siroc: defense de - "defense de" is the first album by Birgé
Gorgé Shiroc, the trio that later became Un Drame Musical Instantane.
The two-disk set includes the LP "defense de" with an additional 40
minutes of unreleased music from the same sessions. The second disk is a
DVD featuring an avant-garde film from 1974 PLUS an additional 6 hours
of music made by the trio-quartet between 1975-1976 (which is ALL the
group's recorded music!). From the NWW list. [MIO 026-027]

Mosaïc: Ultimatum - Mosaïc's "Ultimatum" is a lost jewel in the crown of
the French underground. Mosaic made one album in 1978. Similarities to
Zeuhl bands, Hatfield and the North, King Crimson, National Health are
evident. The music is mostly instrumental fusion/progressive performed
on acoustic and electric guitars, synths, cello, double bass, electric
bass, keyboards, drums and percussion. This reissue includes their 1977
demo tape and two additional bonus tracks. "Excellent stuff; don't you
wait 25 years to discover this!" - Wayside Music [MIO 029]

Previous MIO releases:
Magical Power Mako (Japan): Hapmoniym (1972-1975) [MIO 001-005]
Legendary artist in the vein of Faust/Amon Düül II. 5 CD box set,
numbered limited edition. A must for Japanese avant-garde lovers.

Danny Ben Israel (Israel): Bullshit 3 1/4 (1968-1970) [MIO 016] Ben
Israel's music is a cross between experimental and Hendrix-like psych
with fuzz guitars. The best-kept secret from Israel's psychedelic years.

Kyrie Eleison (Austria): Complete Recordings (1974-1979) [MIO 017-019]
3CD set. Similar to Genesis / Yes / VDGG but very unique. A Mellotron
festival. Their "Fountain Beyond the Sunrise" album is considered by
many as a straight response to Genesis's "Nursery Crime"

Atmosphera (Israel): The Lady of Shalott [MIO 020-021] 2CD set. A lost
Israeli prog band with members from Zingale. English lyrics and
YES/Genesis-like music. Includes many bonus tracks plus VCD track on CD
#2 from 1978. Lengthy pieces.

Decibel (Mexico): Fiat Lux (Complete 1977-2000) [MIO 022-024] Mexico's
answer to Henry Cow and Univers Zero. 3 CDs, more then 70 minutes each
in a limited edition box set. All disks contain bonus tracks not on the
albums. The CDs (El Poeta del Ruido...[MIO 022], Furtuna Virilis...[MIO
023], In Concert...[MIO 024]) are also available individually.

Jean Cohen-Solal (France): Flute Libres & Captain Tarthopom (1971/1973)
[MIO 025] Flautist/multi-instrumentalist Cohen-Solal made two amazing
instrumentals albums, a collectors' nightmare to be found on vinyl. Some
hints of Pink Floyd (Ummagumma era), Magma, Focus, and Jethro Tull. From
the NWW list.
