Part I of my email: Remember Lindi? Sweet vibrato, piano, Toronto, 2001? http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/246/lindi.html? I could swear she was in the Guide, but I don't see her listed... Well, she's back in action. I recently visited her website at www.lindi.org and here's what she had to say about her new stuff: ---------quoted text----------- I am currently recording some new material with producer James Robertson. We just recently recorded a cover version of The Door's PEOPLE ARE STRANGE. I'm going to see if I can put a clip of it up online so people can hear what sort of style I'm doing now. It's not too much of a stray from the first c.d. My music is still quite dark and moody... perhaps a little more sinister and a little heavier.. more guitar driven...more ROCK! I am very excited about it. I hope to be releasing something in 2004. Mostly I have been writing new songs and recording. I will be playing a few intimate shows here and there just so people don't think I've dropped off the planet..but also because I love playing live it's my favorite thing to do and part of me just needs to do it regardless. I will keep everyone updated on the progress of the recording and let people know when a possible release date will be for 2004. ---------/quoted text----------- Okay, here's part II of my email: Another amazing young Canadian talent, Andrew Haughton. I don't really know if his stuff really fits into the Ecto genre, but it has great atmosphere nonetheless, and I think that's what's drawing me to it. Many of the songs have a head-bobbing, simple groove to them, and Andrew's vocal style changes from song to song, but he sounds great in all of them. He has three songs up at MP3.com that you'll need to rush over to listen to (as MP3.com will wipe them out in a day or so). This is Andrew's older stuff. My personal favorite is "It's Not Too Late," with its beautiful, simple keyboards and catchy melody. Here's the URL: http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/351/andrew_haughton.html There are also three songs up at Garagebands.com, of which "Swimming with the Sharks" is my favorite. Here's the URL for that site: http://www.garageband.com/artist/Andrew_Haughton ==Cynthia== ==================================== Blood Ruby - blud roo'-bee (n.) atmospheric alternative music somewhere in the vein of dream pop, ethereal and neoprogressive rock See also www.blood-ruby.com ====================================
